Molecular Mapping of a New Brown Planthopper Resistance Gene Bph43 in Rice (Oryza sativa L.)

چکیده
Brown planthopper (BPH) has become the most devastating insect pests of rice and a serious threat to production. To combat newly occurring virulent BPH populations, it is still urgent explore more new broad-spectrum resistance genes integrate them into cultivars. In present study, we explored genetic basis in IRGC 8678. We identified mapped gene Bph43 region ~380 kb on chromosome 11. Genes encoding nucleotide-binding domain leucine-rich repeat-containing (NBS-LRR)-type disease proteins or Leucine Rich Repeat family annotated this were predicted as possible candidates for Bph43. Meanwhile, developed near isogenic lines (NIL-Bph43-9311) an elite restorer line 9311 background using marker-assisted selection (MAS). The further characterization NIL-Bph43-9311 demonstrated that confers strong antibiosis antixenosis effects BPH. Comparative transcriptome analysis revealed related defense response gene-dependent signaling pathway significantly uniquely enriched BPH-infested NIL-Bph43-9311. Our work can be deployed valuable donor breeding programs.

The brown planthopper (BPH) is one of the most serious insects pests of rice, and the host resistance has been recognized as one of the most economic and effective measures for BPH management. In this study, we conducted a molecular-based genetic analysis of Bph9 in Kaharamana, a Sri Lanka rice variety resistant to BPH insects of East and Southeast Asia. An F2 segregating population composed of...

The brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens Stal.) is one of the major insect pests of rice (Oryza sativa L.). Exploitation of Host Plant Resistance is a major component to manage this pest. The development of rice varieties that are resistant to the brown planthopper is an important objective in current breeding programmes. This study was undertaken to identify QTLs for BPH resistance from an el...

The brown planthopper [Nilaparvata lugens (Stål); BPH] has caused severe damage to rice production. The identification of resistance genes and the development of BPH-resistant varieties are economical and effective ways to manage this pest. Using an F2 population from a cross between the Indica cultivars 93-11 and Swarnalata, we mapped the Qbph-8 locus to a 7.3-cM region on chromosome 8 in two ...
متن کاملMolecular mapping and genetic analysis of a rice brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens Stål) resistance gene.
The brown planthopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens Stål, is a serious insect pest of rice (Oryza saliva L.). We have determined the chromosomal location of a BPH resistance gene in rice using SSR and RFLP techniques. A rice line 'B14', derived from the wild rice Oryza latifolia, showed high resistance to BPH. For tagging the resistance gene in 'B14X', an F2 population and a recombinant inbred (RI)...
